When I find myself wondering "Where do I find good Mexican food?", Belleville is not exactly where I would immediately think to look, but I had heard about Chilangos from some friends in my local to the area. So I went to check it out.
I decided to try some things I'd never had, including their pambazo. A pambazo is a Mexican sandwich of sorts, made with bread fried in a guajillo pepper sauce, filled with a mixture of potato and chorizo, with lettuce and queso fresco. It was a great and very different, if slightly messy choice. I also had a soup to start, Caldo Tlalpeño, definitely good.
For good measure, because I was starving, I finished with Tres Leches cake and a Mexican hot chocolate, and left with a bill that was utterly reasonable.
Everything seemed super authentic (not cheesy Tex-Mex/Cal-Mex crap) and they took a lot of pride in what they put out. Service was good, not overbearing at all. Loved it. -

Really good authentic Mexican food! I never thought I'd find Mexican this good in Canada, but here it is!
We had dinner here on 2 different days while in the area on business, and both visits were excellent! I had the enchiladas verdes on my first visit, and they were large and delicious. The sauce that they put on them has a bit of a kick to it, but nothing overpowering.
On my second visit, I had the tacos, and they were also excellent. Most meals come with a side of rice and refried beans, and once again... excellent!
They serve alcohol here with beer and margaritas being the stars of the show.
This place will be on the "must visit" list whenever I'm in town. -

Oh my. Not much for Mexican food despite the claim. Plus you have to pay for chips and bad salsa.

Amazing flavors and authentic, huge portions. It can be expensive depending on what you order but I would definitely recommend this as dinner spot. Not the most attentive or stellar service but I always forget about that after I eat the food.

Zowzers! My hubs and I were visiting my Mom in Belleville and saw Chilangos on a number of sites when looking for a place to go for supper. WOW! Excellent Mexican food, amazing service, awesome setting, good prices. If we lived here this would be a regular place for us. Lots of choices on the menu - for kids too!
